RIBA Stirling Prize winning almshouse, Appleby Blue is the first almhouse to be built in Southwark for decades and will help meet the shortage of social housing specifically designed for older people.

Appleby Blue is JTRE London’s second scheme, delivered for United St Saviour’s Charity. Designed by Witherford Watson Mann Architects to be an Almshouse for the 21st century, the development consists of 57 homes, gardens and community space and has won numerous awards including the RIBA Stirling Award 2025.

The first Almshouse to be built in Southwark for decades specifically designed for older people it will help meet the shortage of social housing in the borough. It provides genuinely low cost homes for around 90 Southwark residents, enabling them to grow older and to stay part of their community.
